My Homebuilt Foundries

This is an outside view of the largest one.  I made it from an old hot water heater and inside is a commercial refractory, sand & Portland cement.  It weighs about 300 lbs making the wheels are a real necessity, as it is quite heavy to move around otherwise.

Inside of above unit. The unit is big enough to melt 25 lbs. of metal which is a considerable amount. This unit is charcoal fired and will reach 1800 degrees.

Outside view of the smaller unit made from a Freon cylinder.  It will melt 5 lbs. of metal for small pours.

Inside view of small one.  The unit is very portable, it only weighs about 40 lbs. It is also charcoal fired.
